Market Square

Center of the City, it is a small jewel of Renaissance architecture, with fifteenth-century arcades that support manor houses of the XV-XVI century, scenically perfect in its asymmetry

 

Palazzo Silva
(a rare example of a late Renaissance noble house, one of the most significant buildings in Piedmont) reopens after restoration in July 2014.

 

Church of San Quirico

At the foot of the Calice hills, it has architectural and ornamental features dating back to the 10th or 11th century, probably built on the remains of a proto-Christian temple. The 12th and 15th century frescoes are noteworthy.

 

Collegiate of the Saints Gervasio and Protasio

Built between 1792 and 1798 to a design by Arch. Matteo Zucchi, has three naves with six chapels and a valuable high altar in polychrome marble.

 

City Palace

Designed by arch. Leoni, is a beautiful example of the work of the second neoclassicism.

 

Palazzo San Francesco

Behind the City Palace, it was built on the plan of the Church of San Francesco, which dated back to the end of the 13th century. See if re-opened after restoration.

 

Palazzo Mellerio

Next to the Town Hall, it was built by Count Giacomo Mellerio who founded the first Ossola gymnasium (1818).

 

Torretta

Construction located in via Monte Grappa erected on one of the extremities of the fourteenth-century pentagonal walls that surrounded the old village

 

Via Briona

Characteristic street that leads to Piazza Mercato and on which stands the Tower of the '300 called
"del Vescovo"

 

Sacro Monte Calvario Nature Reserve

Regional park and protected area since 1991; access is free, subject to rules of behavior and good education. The Reserve organizes paid guided tours for schools and educational activities associations. The Sacro Monte Calvario is also artistic and cultural heritage.

Ossola Valleys

The Antrona Valley

it is one of the seven valleys that branch off from the Val d'Ossola (VB), and is crossed by the Ovesca stream. The V.A. begins in Villadossola.

 

The Anzasca Valley

is the valley through which one reaches the eastern wall of Monte Rosa, the widest in the Alps both in width and in height (4635 m.) Starts in Piedimulera

 

The Bognanco Valley

it opens up behind Domodossola, branching out from the wider Val d'Ossola. The Baths are open in Bognanco

 

The Divedro Valley

It is the Valley that, starting from Crevoladossola, leads to the Simplon. Near Varzo, a tourist resort, the valley opens and the Cairasca Valley branches out, from which you can reach the San Domenico hamlet, known for its ski resort complex, and the Alpe Veglia and Alpe Devero Park.

 

The Vigezzo Valley

it is known as the Valley of the Painters for the historical presence of landscape painters and portraitists.

Salt from Domodossola and along the Swiss Centovalli you arrive in Locarno and back to Lake Maggiore.

 

The Valle Antigorio Valley

The Antigorio Valley is entirely covered by the Toce river, and extends from Domodossola to the Chioso hamlet of Premia, including the municipalities of Crodo, Baceno and Premia.

 

Valle Formazza Valley

The Valley of the Toce Waterfall. The valley is home to numerous artificial basins created in the first decades of the 20th century for the production of hydroelectric energy; all the dams are now owned by Enel. The Baths are open in Premia
